Recognize Those Who Excel
To be recognized and supported by your students and peers is the ultimate compliment in the profession of education. The Illinois Directors of Student Activities are searching for amazing, dynamic, creative leaders to be saluted and recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet. We hope that you will help us disseminate information about the awards program so that colleagues, community members, administrators, parents, and students will take this opportunity to recognize those key members in your high school who best exemplify the attributes of the IDSA Educator Awards. Nominees should be exceptionally skillful and dedicated individuals who play an active role in promoting the culture and climate of your school community.
Each year, educators are recognized in the following categories (linked below):
- STUDENT ACTIVITY DIRECTOR – recognizes individuals who have made exemplary and consistent contributions to the development and implementation of their high school’s student activities programs.
- NEW STUDENT ACTIVITY ADVISOR – recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions during their first three years as an activity or club advisor.
- STUDENT ACTIVITY ADVISOR – recognizes individuals who, through their time and effort, have made an impact on their club or activity and who exemplify the ideal advisor/sponsor.
- DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION & BELONGING – recognizes individuals who have led work in developing inclusive and equitable student activity programs and practices in their club, activity, or program.
- COMMUNITY SERVICE – recognizes persons who excel in student activity program initiatives in the area of community service.
- SUPPORTIVE ADMINISTRATOR – recognizes administrators who support their activities directors and activities programming within their schools and/or districts. (Formerly known as Principal’s Recognition Award and Educational Leadership Award)
- CAREER ACHIEVEMENT – recognizes persons who have made contributions throughout a career extending through ten years or more, impacting student activity programs.
The Awards Program is a cooperative effort designed to honor outstanding members in the Student Activities domain and to promote awareness of the quality of Student Activity Clubs, Programs, and Events being provided in Illinois high schools across the state. We encourage you to take the time to review the application and nominate a candidate whom you think is worthy of this recognition.
